5. Happy Factory
The utilization of labor's creativity and initiative, along with capital's recognition of labor's preferences,
transforms digital labor into a self-generating and self-promoting workforce. Yet, this exploitation yields outputs that are efficient and rich in emotional value, But people are aware of the thing that's happening,
revealing a stark contrast between the paralyzing exploitative norm and the consumer progress catalyzed by AI's benefits. Should products resulting from this fusion be solely attributed to humans? With AI's increasing involvement in digital factories, we must remain vigilant about the inherent contradictions within this seeming 'happy' value.
The concept of digital labour, predates AI devices and other complex systems.
Including:Miners, electronic factories in China, physical factories……
At the same time, if you put it in the context of the AI era,
What is the role of ever-evolving AI technologies in today's digital factory and digital labor?
I built my own 'HAPPY FACTORY' in this project.Digital labor - the work of building and maintaining the stack of digital systems -deeply embodied in different activities.
We all know that when use social media, users become digital workers in some sense,
the addition of AI algorithms /machine learning/big data analytics……makes the user's 'work experience' more immersive and acting more unconsciously
「 Therefore, as people step into an area to view a short video, they unconsciously activating the 'Happy Factory’,and engage in work」
In this situation, viewers are given a "new freedom", where labor is not a burden but an enjoyable act and digital labor become "leisure labor”.
「 When viewers watch short videos, they can hear a kind of fake and weird "factory music", which tries to create a so-called "game space" for people, and the viewers' emotions become the source of power for the operation of the network inside the factory.Actually, factory music originates from every rotation of the internal structure, powered by the audience, yet it turns into a cheap repurposing of emotion. 」
「 The factory, though the camera, sifts through tracks within the internal network. AI tools process this data swiftly, transforming the unconscious outputs into text or artwork with broad, collective significance. 」
AI technology goes into every facet of human behavior, employing diverse methods of processing and output at the same time. The end product is often beyond individual human influence, blurring the lines of ownership in these value creations.
Who truly owns the work?
Can these outputs be classified as artworks?
Has the essence of such artifacts transformed?
